We usually publish a Family Law Song of the Month with every newsletter. You know, a song that is somehow (admittedly sometimes a bit nebulously) tied to the many issues we see everyday – divorce, custody, alimony, mediation (okay we’re still looking for a mediation song, maybe Adam Sandler will come up with one soon), and relationships. 

We started looking for that one perfect song for the Holidays a few weeks ago and, Lo and Behold, realized quickly there was no possible way we can narrow down to just one. Or five.

So, here’s our list – in no particular order – of our Family Law Songs for the Holidays for 2019.

 

Bruce Springsteen – Merry Christmas Baby The Boss’s take on Johnny Moore’s Three Blazers 1947 hit. Probably the most upbeat song on the list, certainly the most covered.Springsteen, though, does make it his own. 

The Ramones – Merry Christmas (I Don’t Want to Fight Tonight) The Ramones (memorably) also covered Merry Christmas, Baby, but this is perfect  … plus, the red sweater at the end.

Dan Fogelberg – Same Old Lang Syne Anyone out there not experience everything in this song at least once?
Pearl Jam – Let Me Sleep It’s Christmas Time Anyone out there not experience everything in this song at least once?

John Prine, Christmas in Prison Well . . . ah . . . I mean, John Prine and Christmas and loneliness and regret . . . ah, hell, did I mention it’s John Prine?
Pink Martini – Snowglobe Christmas When you went away, the colors all turned brown …..
Darlene Love – Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) And, please, the Darlene Love version . . . only! (And, where would Goodfellas have been without this song?)
Prince – Another Lonely Christmas Remember that night . . .?
Coldplay – Christmas Lights One of the top ‘it doesn’t feel like Christmas songs’ in a long while. 
Sarah McLachlan – River Sarah doing for Christmas what she did for animal cruelty.
The Waitresses – Christmas Wrapping Ending the list with an ‘I’ve been there’ song with a happier ending. Because for all of us at Triangle Smart Divorce, it’s all about a happier ending. Come talk to us.
