"Across three states, Jenny was hands-down the best divorce lawyer I worked with! Authentic, savvy, insightful, tough, empathetic and effective. Can ’t say enough good things about her."
We almost – almost – felt guilty hiring Kadeelyn McGinnis as our latest paralegal. The reason: her voice. Kadeelyn went to UNC–Asheville as a music major. Not just any ‘music major’, but for vocal performance. Classical. Opera. That’s right, Kadeelyn can sing. Really sing.
Halfway through the hiring process we started to think we may be robbing the arts of a real talent, but then we quickly realized that if we didn’t hire her as quickly as possible (a) we’d be robbing ourselves of a great team member; (b) another law firm would scoop her up before she got from our office to her car in the parking lot; (c) the arts could wait and find someone else.
Here’s why we thought that: while doing some work “on the business side of the music industry,” Kadeelyn took a job as a receptionist at a tiny law firm. While “answering the phones and making clients comfortable in the waiting room” she started helping the paralegal “with some little things.”
Those ‘little things’ became bigger, more important things. She wanted to do more, learn more, to do even more. The firm was thrilled and gave her more to do.
In a perfect example of the law firm circle of life, Kadeelyn was soon a legal assistant. She took on more and more responsibilities while learning all she could in a firm setting. When she thought that wasn’t enough to do the job the way she wanted to do it, for the clients she wanted to help, she went back to school and obtained her paralegal certification, condensing the entire program into two semesters.
Like us, you’re probably sensing a pattern here, but Kadeelyn has explicitly banned us from writing it out here. All we can say is that the next logical step in her progression rhymes with ‘saw pool.’
Kadeelyn and her husband live in Raleigh. Kadeelyn cooks and still sings on occasion with the North Carolina Symphony’s Chorale Group. She notes that she and her husband are both Hogwarts Legacy devotees.
