Abby Gelband’s path to Triangle Smart Divorce started with a hunch — the kind you get when you know you’re in the right place, doing the right thing. While in UNC Chapel Hill’s paralegal program, she got a taste of everything from corporate filings to criminal cases, but she kept coming back to family law. It just clicked.

Part of that connection comes from personal experience. When Abby’s parents divorced, they managed to keep things friendly — so friendly that they’re still friends to this day. She knows how rare that is, and her goal is to help clients find the same kind of resolution whenever possible.

Before joining TSD, Abby took the scenic route. Born and raised in Raleigh, she headed to East Carolina University for a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a certificate in Professional Selling. An internship in Fort Lauderdale. A job in midtown Manhattan as a recruiter for a major financial services firm, where she covered New York, Rhode Island, and Boston. She built her career on reading people well, thinking strategically, and guiding them to solutions that worked — skills she now puts to work for TSD clients every day.

What drew Abby to family law was the opportunity for ongoing connection, being alongside clients from first meeting to final resolution, making sure they’re informed, prepared, and supported the whole way through.

Outside the office, Abby can be found in Pilates and yoga classes, running local trails, or chasing her goldendoodle, Fenway. She loves cheering for the Carolina Hurricanes, and with a dog named Fenway, you can probably guess which ballpark has her heart.
