Marisa made her way from New Hampshire to North Carolina for NC State, where she graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Criminology and a minor in Law and Justice. 

An internship with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction first sparked her interest in the legal world, but it was the combination of structure, problem-solving, and helping people move forward that kept her interested. 

Before joining Triangle Smart Divorce, Marisa worked as a Registered Behavior Technician supporting children with autism and later helped manage families and events as a Lead Host at a children’s play space. Both required patience, organization, and the ability to stay calm when several things needed attention at once. 

As it turns out, those skills transfer pretty well to a family law firm. 

Marisa originally joined TSD as an Administrative Assistant before moving into her current role as a Legal Assistant, where she works directly with our attorneys and paralegals to support Clients and keep their cases moving forward. 

Family law involves an enormous number of details behind the scenes. Marisa helps with case documents, Client communication, deadlines, and the day-to-day coordination that keeps everyone on the Legal Team on the same page. She brings calm focus, empathy, and a genuine appreciation for organization to work that requires plenty of all three. 

Outside the office, Marisa enjoys shopping, running, and weightlifting. A sprinter in high school, she eventually decided to see what would happen if she just kept running and completed her first marathon. 

Whether one marathon was enough remains to be seen. 

Marisa is also an NC State graduate, putting her firmly on the Wolfpack side of TSD’s ongoing college sports rivalry. Between family law, marathon running, and defending NC State around this office, endurance appears to be something of a theme. 

Fortunately, Marisa has plenty of it.
