Before we dive into the nitty-gritty of Jill’s background and experiences, let’s cut through it all and start with this:

How great is Jill? Since the day we opened Triangle Smart Divorce, Mitzi Gardner has managed virtually every aspect of our billing – internal and external. Mitzi has now handed over all of her billing duties to Jill.

This is as surprising as it is unprecedented.

Here’s why Mitzi is doing this: Jill has almost twenty years of experience as a top-notch family law and civil litigation paralegal. She has quite literally been involved – deeply – in every aspect of a family law firm. From training new associates and paralegals to managing superhuman caseloads . . . well, name it, if it’s an integral part of a successful law firm, Jill has experience in it. And successes.

Now, a bit of ‘inside baseball’ – why is this background important for our office’s Billing Manager?  Because she is more than a Billing Manager.  She’s a second set of eyes on EVERY case.  An experienced case auditor, if you will.  Looking at everything done (and not done) in a case to be sure we are upholding our core value of SERVICE.

Technically, it means Jill can employ her extensive experience and deep understanding of the unique challenges and complexities involved in individual cases and work closely with our Attorneys and Paralegals to convey movement in the cases, as well as value.  The more details in an invoice, the better picture we paint of how we are helping our Clients be SMART when getting married or divorced.  The more the invoice conveys strategy and action, the greater our Clients’ peace of mind.

More importantly, though, Jill’s experience with Clients and her years of making complex legal processes simple and straightforward is invaluable when it comes to helping Clients understand the why behind how we do things and how we try to get these things done with as little friction as possible.

A Billing Manager with a Paralegal background brings a unique combination of legal knowledge, Client communication skills, and process expertise to a family law firm. This makes Jill a valued asset in delivering top-notch customer service with empathy and a deep understanding of what our Clients are experiencing.

On a personal level, Jill is a UNC graduate, a Tar Heel through and through, helping tip the Carolina Blue office.  (We will ignore the fact that her paralegal education came from another university on Tobacco Road).

When she’s not working closely with our Legal Team, Clients, and all things billing, Jill spends time with her Chihuahua, Lola, tends to her vegetable garden, and travels. A lot.
