There is a big difference between processing a legal bill and understanding one. 

Jill Gagnon understands one. 

Before becoming Triangle Smart Divorce’s Billing Manager, Jill spent nearly two decades working as a paralegal in family law and civil litigation. She managed complex caseloads, worked directly with Clients, prepared cases for hearings and trials, drafted and reviewed legal documents, and trained new attorneys and paralegals. She is also a North Carolina Certified Paralegal. 

In other words, when Jill reviews a Client’s bill, she understands the work behind it. 

At TSD, billing is not something we treat as an administrative afterthought. Jill works closely with our Legal Team to review invoices and make sure they clearly reflect the work being done and the progress being made in a case. She is also someone our Clients hear from regularly, whether they have a question about an invoice, need to replenish their trust account, are receiving a refund, or simply want to better understand their account. 

Having a dedicated billing department also means Clients have someone they can go directly to with those questions. And because Jill spent so many years working on family law cases herself, she brings a level of context to those conversations that goes well beyond numbers on an invoice. 

Jill is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned her degree in English, and she completed her Paralegal Certification through Duke University. For those who are counting, that puts her firmly on the UNC side of the ongoing TSD college rivalry. We’re sure the Duke Paralegal Certification occasionally complicates things, but not enough to change her allegiance. 

Outside the office, Jill spends her time with her son and her Chihuahua, Lola, and loves heading to the beach. 

At TSD, we believe Clients should understand not only what is happening in their case, but what they are paying for along the way. Jill helps make sure they do.
