Alex grew up around computers. 

His dad worked in IT, and Alex remembers going with him to the office when he was young. Before long, simply being around computers turned into wanting to understand how they worked. 

By high school, Alex had turned that interest into actual IT work. He spent summers and eventually worked full time for a managed service provider, supporting law firms, animal hospitals, dental and dermatology practices, and other professional service businesses.  

That experience taught him something pretty quickly: when people depend on technology to do their jobs, “have you tried turning it off and back on again?” only gets you so far. 

Alex first came to Triangle Smart Divorce through that managed IT world. But as TSD grew, so did its technology needs. There were more systems, more security considerations, more questions, and more ways technology touched both the Team and our Clients. 

Eventually, we realized having an IT company we could call was not quite the same as having Alex. 

So, we brought him in full time. 

Today, as TSD’s IT Manager, Alex is responsible for keeping the technology behind the firm secure, reliable, and moving forward. He helps protect confidential Client data, keeps the systems our Legal Team relies on up and running, and looks for ways technology can make the firm more efficient rather than simply giving everyone one more password to remember. 

Technology also shows up in family law cases in some unexpected ways. 

A Client may have text messages on a device that their attorney needs. They may be struggling to upload documents or have files in a format no one can seem to open. Sometimes the Legal Team simply needs to figure out how to get an important piece of digital information from Point A to Point B. 

When that happens, Alex gets pulled in. 

His job is not to practice family law. It is to make sure technology does not get in the way of the people who do, or the Clients they are trying to help. 

And that job keeps changing. 

New technology creates new possibilities, new security concerns, and occasionally entirely new categories of problems no one was asking about six months ago. Alex keeps TSD ahead of those changes, helping evaluate new tools, strengthen our systems, and make sure the technology we use actually makes sense for the way our Team works. 

Alex is CompTIA A+ certified and holds several Microsoft certifications, including Microsoft 365 Certified, Microsoft 365 Administrator, Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals, and Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator. 

Outside the office, Alex is considerably less interested in sitting in front of a computer. 

He enjoys biking, running, playing tennis and soccer, and traveling. He will happily play sports, although asking him to spend the weekend watching other people play them is apparently a less compelling proposition. 

Alex also has two cats, who have yet to demonstrate any meaningful interest in IT. Probably for the best. 

Technology is always going to change, and at a firm handling highly personal information every day, keeping up with it matters. 

Alex makes sure TSD is ready for what changes next, while keeping the technology our Team and Clients rely on working the way it should today. 

Which, around here, gives everyone else one less thing to worry about.
